Kings Of Leon at V: "UK made us kings"

17 August 2008
Far more talkative than usual, singer Caleb Fothergill thanked the “beautiful crowd” telling them:
“We love these little stays in the UK. You guys made us the kings.”
Opening with a new song ‘Black
Thumbnail’, the US band worked through favourites from their first three albums, including ‘Taper Jean Girl’,
‘Razz’ and ‘Molly’s Chambers’.
The band moved around stage little but held the crowd’s
attention with their talent and intensity, Caleb frequently reminding the Essex crowd: “We’re Kings Of Leon”.
He also toasted the audience, saying: “This is our last show for a while so I hope you don’t mind
if I have a little fun and a little drink up here”, before launching into huge new single ‘Sex On Fire’.
‘Fans’ and ‘Milk’ encouraged a more relaxed vibe in the crowd, before the scathing ‘Four
Kicks’ and a loaded version of ‘The Bucket’ brought things back to the boil.
The gritty ‘Charmer’
and customary closer ‘Slow Night, So Long’ brought the 75 minute show to an end as the band left to huge
applause as they awaited headliner and final act, The Verve.
