Say 'Bollocks To Poverty' at Lovebox

Action Aid is calling on music fans at Lovebox to stop by their tent and say 'Bollocks To Poverty'.

The charity hopes to bombard the United Nations with hundreds of messages reminding them of the commitment they made to halve world hunger by 2015.

Fans will be invited to write their message on a paper plate and have it photographed with them. ActionAid will dish out the plates to world leaders when they meet at the next General Assembly in New York in September.

Festival goers across the world will be targeted at venues ranging from folk-rock concerts in Kathamdu to reggae gigs in Nairobi. In the UK, the HungerFREE campaign will also be at Reading and Global Gathering.

Anella Wickenden, ActionAid’s Youth Campaigns Manager said: “When a person gets to the point of having nothing to eat, it is because everything else has been denied – access to land, jobs, living wages and their human rights.

“But by joining thousands of people around the world and the likes of New Young Pony Club, festival goers can make a noise about the scandal of global poverty and hunger and demand change through their passion for music.”

The Bollocks To Poverty tent will also be offering people a place to chill out, relax on comfy beanbags and play giant games of Jenga, beach volleyball and get their face painted.

Lovebox takes place this weekend - 21-22 July - at Victoria Park, London. Acts include Sly And The Family Stone, Blondie, Groove Armada, The B-52s, The Rapture and Hot Chip.
